$20M Funding for Ati AI-Powered Robotics

by Pieter Werner

Ati Motors has secured $20 million in Series B funding to drive the global expansion of its AI-powered autonomous robotics solutions. The investment round, co-led by Walden Catalyst Ventures and NGP Capital, included participation from existing backers True Ventures, Exfinity Venture Partners, Athera Venture Partners, and Blume Ventures. The funding follows a period of growth for the company, highlighted by a tripled order book in the final quarter of 2024 and the addition of nine new clients.

Based in Bengaluru and San Francisco, Ati Motors specializes in robotics and artificial intelligence aimed at automating manufacturing processes. The company has deployed its Sherpa robots in factories worldwide, including facilities operated by manufacturers such as Forvia and Hyundai, with significant adoption across Fortune 500 companies. Its robots are designed to operate autonomously in dynamic and complex industrial environments, providing high uptime and productivity improvements. Ati Motors claims to leverage one of the largest and most diverse factory datasets to enhance the functionality of its autonomous systems.

The Series B funding will support product development, increased deployment capabilities, and market expansion efforts in North America and the Asia-Pacific region. Recently, the company established operations in Mexico and expanded its presence in Detroit, Michigan, alongside ongoing efforts in India and Southeast Asia.

Ati Motors’ Founder and CEO, Saurabh Chandra, emphasized the company’s focus on developing reliable, purpose-built autonomous robots tailored to manufacturing needs. He noted that the funding would enable the company to refine its AI models and industrial autonomy platform.

Shankar Chandran, a partner at Walden Catalyst Ventures, stated that Ati Motors’ combination of AI, robotics, and understanding of manufacturing environments positions it to lead industrial automation’s next phase. Upal Basu of NGP Capital highlighted the company’s deployment of autonomous robots in diverse settings and its integration of technologies such as Edge AI and LIDAR as key factors in addressing the needs of the manufacturing sector.
