AGILINK Demonstrates Robotic Hand on Suzhou Embroidery Tasks

by Pieter Werner

Chinese robotics company AGILINK has demonstrated its OmniHand 3 Ultra performing basic Suzhou embroidery techniques under the instruction of embroidery practitioner Fu Xianghong. The robotic hand was used to separate silk threads, thread a needle, stretch fabric on an embroidery frame and carry out stitching. The demonstration focused on manipulating silk, a flexible material that requires control of positioning, contact force and tension.

AGILINK said the OmniHand 3 Ultra has 21 active degrees of freedom and uses a direct-drive architecture. The system incorporates tactile sensors on the fingertips and palm, including image-processing-based sensors designed to detect changes in the contact area while handling thin and deformable materials.

β€œA single silk thread illustrates the dexterity of the OmniHand 3 Ultra,” said Qiao Tianjie, vice president of AGIBOT and chief executive of AGILINK. β€œIt also shows that it is possible to transfer finer tasks to machines.”

AGILINK was spun off from AGIBOT in January 2026 and said it has shipped more than 15,000 dexterous robotic hands. The company also said its OmniHand products participated in eight dexterous-hand events at the World Humanoid Robot Games in August, receiving seven gold, four silver and three bronze medals.

The company completed its fourth funding round in June at a valuation of more than $1 billion, according to information provided by AGILINK. Its investors include Hillhouse Ventures and Mirae Asset.

AGILINK is targeting applications involving flexible or delicate materials, including cable management, flexible-material assembly and precision-component handling.
