‘AI to Create 170 Million New Jobs’

by Pieter Werner

The rise of advanced technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), blockchain, and automation, is reshaping global industries and creating new opportunities in the job market. As companies increasingly adopt digital tools, workers are being pushed to reskill and adapt to meet emerging demands. Based on data from Stocklytics.com, roles such as big data specialists and fintech engineers are projected to see the most rapid growth between 2025 and 2030.

Big data specialists are poised to lead the list of in-demand roles, with a projected growth rate of 110% over the next five years, according to the World Economic Forum’s (WEF) Future of Jobs Report 2025. These professionals play a critical role in sectors like healthcare, finance, and retail, leveraging large datasets for tasks such as fraud detection, predictive analytics, and recommendation systems. Fintech engineers, responsible for developing technologies such as blockchain and digital payment platforms, rank second, with expected growth of 86% by 2030.

Machine learning specialists, who topped the list in previous years, now occupy third place with an anticipated 81% growth. Meanwhile, app developers and security managers round out the top five, with projected increases of 58% and 57%, respectively. Other promising roles include data warehouse specialists, autonomous and electric vehicle specialists, and UI/UX designers.

As some roles grow in prominence, others are expected to decline. Postal service clerks, bank tellers, and data entry clerks face the sharpest declines, with reductions estimated between 25% and 35%. Secretarial and administrative assistant positions, as well as cashier roles, are also on the decline as automation becomes more prevalent.

AI is not only altering existing roles but also generating new ones. According to the 2024 Work Trend Index Annual Report, 75% of employees used AI tools in the workplace last year, particularly in small and medium-sized enterprises. Additionally, two-thirds of technology leaders indicated a preference for hiring candidates with AI skills, even if they lack traditional experience. The WEF projects that AI could create more than 170 million new jobs by 2030.
