Ambi Robotics, a Berkeley, California-based developer of AI-powered robotics systems for commercial operations, has introduced AI Skill Suite, a set of robot capabilities built on its AmbiOS software platform. The company is making the suite available for licensing to selected partners, expanding the use of its software across third-party hardware and robotic form factors.
AmbiOS functions as the company’s operating system for physical AI applications, connecting robotic systems to infrastructure that supports safety, maintenance and operational requirements. The platform is designed to abstract hardware-specific complexities, enabling AI applications to operate across different robotic configurations and industrial use cases. Data collected from deployed systems is used to refine underlying foundation models.
Jeff Mahler, co-founder and chief technology officer of Ambi Robotics, said the company’s approach is focused on deploying robots in production environments to improve adaptability and reliability. “The hardest challenge in robotics is not demonstrating intelligence in a lab, but enabling robots to rapidly adapt to economically-valuable work with industrial reliability,” Mahler said. He added that the AI Skill Suite offers standardized applications that allow partners to incorporate perception, reasoning and manipulation capabilities into their own robotic systems.
The AI Skill Suite includes capabilities such as item identification, inspection, dexterous picking and precision placement. These functions are powered by PRIME-1, Ambi Robotics’ vertically integrated AI foundation model, which uses 3D reasoning and is trained on operational telemetry from the company’s deployed systems. According to the company, the model has accumulated more than 250,000 production hours and has processed 150 million consumer packages across a nationwide fleet, achieving uptime exceeding 99.9%.
Ambi Robotics stated that global automation providers and shipping companies within the Fortune 500 have licensed elements of the technology. The company also reported that its AmbiStack solution was brought to market more quickly than its earlier AmbiSort system by leveraging the existing AmbiOS Skill Suite architecture.
Jim Liefer, chief executive officer of Ambi Robotics, said the company’s systems have collected operational data from logistics and e-commerce networks responsible for a large share of U.S. parcel volumes and commercial stock-keeping units. He said the launch of AI Skill Suite enables partners to use that operational data to accelerate deployment of physical AI systems.
The company expects its nationwide production fleet to exceed 500,000 cumulative hours of commercial operation by the end of 2026.
