Ati Motors has announced the launch of the Sherpa Mecha, a humanoid-inspired robotic system designed for industrial manufacturing environments. According to the company, the robot is intended to support automation tasks such as machine tending and transporting heavy materials on the factory floor.
The Sherpa Mecha departs from traditional humanoid designs, instead focusing on function-specific performance. Ati Motors describes it as a tool-centric robotic platform capable of continuous operation in production settings. The company reports that development involved collaboration with academic institutions, research organizations, and industry partners, and that the system has undergone operational testing in live manufacturing environments.
In a statement accompanying the announcement, Ati Motors CEO Saurabh Chandra said the robot is designed to integrate into existing manufacturing ecosystems, supporting information flow and automation processes. The system builds on the company’s existing technologies in actuation and modular AI, which have been implemented in earlier autonomous vehicle platforms. Ati Motors has previously deployed its Sherpa autonomous mobile robots across multiple manufacturing operations globally.
