The industrial robotics market in China achieved strong growth with a new record of 243,300 installations in 2021 – a rise of 44% compared to the previous year. These preliminary data have been published by the International Federation of Robotics.

Belgian developer Chris Umé (33) has created a 3D-deepfake version of Elvis Presley performing. The AR-installation was shown during the show America’s Got Talent. Members of the jury Sofia Vergara, Heidi Klum en Simon Cowell were also programmed to take part in the performance. Umé says he has worked six weeks for 20 hours a day to get this result.

Amazon has announced it will acquire Belgian firm Cloostermans, which builds robots for warehouses. Purpose of this acquisition is to build ‘next-generation supply chain mechatronics’. Cloostermans is already a supplier for the Amazon-warehouses. Recently Amazon announced another expansion in the robotics-space, by acquiring iRobot.

Russian Center for Analysis of Strategies and Technologies (CAST) offers a reward for the capture of a THeMIS unmanned ground vehicle by Milrem Robotics. Ukraine is the first country to deploy these robots in combat.

Prosegur Security USA has announced the integration of its newest security technology, a robot dog named Yellow, into its private and professional security offerings for perimeter patrol. Yellow has several applications. He can be deployed in situations that are too dangerous, or too difficult, for human entry. In addition, he can be deployed at events and with the help of facial recognition technology, can identify “friend or foe”, alerting security of potential threats.

By 2026, conversational artificial intelligence (AI) deployments within contact centres will reduce agent labour costs by $80 billion, according to Gartner. Worldwide end-user spending on conversational AI solutions within contact centres is forecast to reach $1.99 billion in 2022.
