Automate 2025: Vention Demonstrates new AI Robotics Control System

by Pieter Werner

At Automate 2025 Vention is presenting its third-generation controller, MachineMotion AI, along with AI-based robotics and modular automation systems developed in collaboration with NVIDIA. The MachineMotion AI controller combines motion, sensing, vision, and artificial intelligence into a single control platform. It operates using the NVIDIA Jetson Orin computing module and Isaac CUDA-accelerated libraries to support high-performance workloads.

The controller manages various automation components, including robots, conveyors, and sensors, through a unified plug-and-play interface that also provides optional cellular connectivity. The system is being used to operate Vention’s full booth setup, which includes four robotic work cells and a synchronized chain of actuators. A demonstration of Vention’s AI-powered bin-picking robot, first shown at NVIDIA GTC in March, features the use of real-time vision and selection algorithms to identify and grasp disorganized plumbing parts with sub-millimeter precision. The setup highlights potential uses of autonomous material handling in industrial environments.

Other demonstrations at the booth include modular work cells for welding, machine tending, and palletizing. These systems are designed to integrate with collaborative robots from ABB, FANUC, and Universal Robots, and can be configured and managed using Vention’s software tools, including the latest version of MachineApp. Vention is also launching MachineBuilder 101, an online robotics certification course aimed at students, educators, engineers, and manufacturing professionals. The course offers instruction in designing, simulating, and deploying automation systems using Vention’s combined hardware and software platform.

“The promise of Physical AI in manufacturing isn’t theoretical anymore—it’s here, and it’s practical,” said Etienne Lacroix, Founder and CEO of Vention. “AI-robotics operators are now successfully executing complex bin picking and machine tending with both simplicity and affordability”.
