Badger Technologies, a division of Jabil, has introduced a new solution platform named “Digital Teammate,” which integrates its latest multipurpose autonomous robot with software designed to support retail and other business operations. The platform is built on mobile data analytics, computer vision, radio-frequency identification (RFID) technology, and artificial intelligence, with the aim of assisting employees in managing tasks such as inventory tracking, pricing accuracy, hazard detection, and security monitoring.
The autonomous robot within the Digital Teammate platform is designed to operate alongside employees, collecting and analyzing data to support decision-making processes. According to the company, this robot can perform shelf scans to detect out-of-stock products and pricing errors more accurately than manual processes. The platform also includes a mobile application intended to deliver prioritized operational insights to various levels of staff, from store associates to executive leadership.
An additional feature of the system is its RFID integration, which supports proactive inventory control, including expiration date tracking for perishable goods. This is intended to help reduce food waste and improve product safety. Badger Technologies also reports that the platform allows for customer interaction through an onboard tablet that can offer personalized assistance and location guidance within retail spaces.
Badger Technologies stated that more than 1,000 of its autonomous robots have been deployed across grocery, hardware, and home improvement stores in the United States. In one deployment, the company claims its solution improved inventory accuracy to over 97% at a hardware retail chain. The new platform also includes tools for integrating with retail media networks, expanding its utility in data-driven advertising and customer engagement.
