Circus SE has established a new subsidiary, Circus Defence SE, to develop and expand autonomous AI robotics and infrastructure systems for defence applications. The company announced that the new entity will operate as a wholly owned subsidiary, focusing on products designed for mission-critical defence environments.
According to Circus, the subsidiary will build on the firm’s existing AI robotics platform and modular system architecture to develop applications such as autonomous medical supply units, counter-drone infrastructure, and autonomous logistics systems for military use. These developments will be based on technologies already in production at Circus.
The new business unit will focus on mobile, container-based AI robotics systems designed for rapid deployment and autonomous operation with minimal personnel involvement. Its first products will evolve from the company’s existing CA-M system, described as an autonomous AI solution for troop supply, into a broader modular product range.
Chief Executive Nikolas Bullwinkel stated that the creation of Circus Defence SE establishes a dedicated structure for expanding the company’s defence portfolio while using existing partnerships within European defence and NATO frameworks. He added that the systems would be developed and produced within Europe.
Circus SE is currently forming management and development teams to support the subsidiary’s operations. The establishment of Circus Defence SE follows the company’s recent expansion into Ukraine and preparations for serial production in Europe. Circus said it is also assessing options for strategic investment and a potential public listing of the new entity.
