Dutch robotics company DBM Industrial develops robot solutions for the industrial laundry sector. At Automatics 2025, the Rocking Robots team interviewed founder Jonathan de Bruin. In this video report he explains how his company addresses key challenges in production environments. DBM Industrial focuses on automating labor-intensive tasks in industrial laundries, which provide washing services to sectors like healthcare and hospitality, with two robotic systems: one that loads hanging garments into moving containers and another that stacks towels in preparation for packaging.
A third system, currently in development, will feed towels directly into folding machines. All systems are powered by ABB Robotics, with DBM Industrial acting as a certified value provider. “We work closely with ABB both in integration and service, which gives us a strong, globally recognized partner,” De Bruin says. The robots combine industrial arms with vision technology to identify and handle different textile items. While the underlying technology is complex, DBM’s focus is on delivering simple, reliable solutions that reduce downtime and improve productivity. “Our goal is continuous production for our customers, with fewer dependencies on scarce labor and more predictable costs.”
