Faraday Future Secures U.S. Certification for Quadruped Robot

by Pieter Werner

Faraday Future Intelligent Electric has obtained full compliance certification in the United States for its FX Aegis quadruped robot, enabling formal commercial sales in the market. The certification was granted following testing by the Federal Communications Commission’s Authorization and Certification Division, confirming adherence to applicable safety, security, and spectrum standards.

The FX Aegis is part of the company’s broader embodied AI robotics portfolio, which also includes the Futurist and Master humanoid models that have already completed certification requirements. The quadruped robot is designed for applications spanning security, industrial operations, and personal companionship.

According to the company, the FX Aegis features a peak joint torque of 48 Newton-meters, allowing it to navigate obstacles of approximately 13 inches and operate on slopes up to 40 degrees. It supports Wi-Fi and 5G connectivity and can be configured for remote operation in environments with limited network coverage.

The platform is designed with modularity in mind, offering optional configurations such as wheeled mobility and expandable hardware components including lidar, depth cameras, robotic arms, and specialized attachments such as fire extinguishers. On the software side, the robot integrates with home, campus, and industrial security systems and supports autonomous patrol and follow functions.

Faraday Future positions the FX Aegis for use cases including industrial inspection, law enforcement support, emergency response, asset inventory, and delivery of small items. The base price for the FX Aegis series is set at $2,490, with an additional ecosystem skill package priced at $1,000 for the second development version.

The company reported that more than 20 embodied AI robots were shipped during its first delivery month, exceeding its internal target and generating positive product gross margins in the first quarter of 2026. It is targeting cumulative shipments of more than 1,000 units by the end of December 2026, with initial deployment efforts focused on sectors such as short-term rental operations, restaurants, hotels, and automotive dealerships.
