Figure AI Introduces Figure 03 Humanoid Robot

by Marco van der Hoeven

Figure AI has announced the launch of the Figure 03, its third-generation humanoid robot. The new model has been developed with a focus on operation in home and commercial environments and is powered by the company’s in-house Helix model, a vision-language-action AI system that enables the robot to interpret spoken instructions and perform practical tasks.

The Figure 03 is designed to carry out household activities such as folding laundry, loading dishwashers, and general tidying. According to the company, the same platform can also be adapted for use in service and light industrial applications.

Compared with its predecessor, the Figure 02, the new model introduces several updates to sensing, safety, and manufacturing design. The perception system now includes cameras with twice the frame rate and one-quarter of the latency, offering a field of view about 60 percent wider per camera. Palm-mounted cameras have been added to improve manipulation in confined spaces, and tactile fingertip sensors can detect forces as low as three grams.

The robot’s exterior uses fabric coverings and multi-density foam padding to reduce risks in shared human environments. The Figure 03 is about nine percent lighter than the previous version and includes wireless inductive charging through its feet, with a maximum input of two kilowatts. Coverings are removable and washable.

For production, Figure AI has established its BotQ facility, which is designed for high-volume manufacturing. Initial capacity is stated at 12,000 units per year, with a goal of scaling to 100,000 units over four years. The company reports that components have been redesigned for die-casting and injection molding to lower costs and simplify assembly.

Demonstrations of the Figure 03 show the robot performing structured tasks at controlled speed. Human supervision remains necessary for complex or unstructured activities.

The launch follows Figure AI’s recent Series C funding round, which brought the company’s valuation to 39 billion dollars. The financing supports the expansion of its Helix AI model, data infrastructure, and the BotQ production line.
