Gartner: global semiconductor revenue to reach $1.6 trillion in 2026

by Pieter Werner

Worldwide semiconductor revenue is forecast to reach $1.56 trillion in 2026, up 92% from $809 billion in 2025, according to Gartner. The research firm expects the market to grow further to $1.94 trillion in 2027, with memory products accounting for much of the increase.

Gartner forecasts memory revenue of $837.3 billion in 2026, compared with $220.1 billion in 2025. Memory is expected to represent 54% of total semiconductor revenue this year, up from 27% in 2025. Revenue from memory products is projected to exceed $1 trillion in 2027, reaching about $1.08 trillion.

Within the memory market, DRAM revenue is forecast to rise 246.6% in 2026, while NAND flash revenue is expected to increase 371.9%. Gartner expects additional production capacity to become available in 2027, although it forecasts that supply-demand conditions will remain tight as AI infrastructure deployments increase memory consumption.

“While pricing expansion is accelerating growth in 2026, continued AI infrastructure deployments, higher memory content per AI server and sustained demand for high-bandwidth memory (HBM) will support memory revenue growth through 2027 and beyond,” said Shrish Pant, director analyst at Gartner.

AI data centres are also expected to account for a growing share of semiconductor spending. Gartner forecasts the AI data centre ecosystem will represent 36.5% of semiconductor revenue in 2026 and more than 53% by 2030.

The expansion of AI infrastructure is also increasing demand for semiconductor products outside the memory market. Larger AI clusters require CPUs, networking silicon, power-management components, analogue devices and optical interconnect technologies.

Gartner forecasts non-memory semiconductor revenue will increase 21.9%, from $589 billion in 2025 to $717.9 billion in 2026. The segment is projected to reach $864.4 billion in 2027.

“AI is expanding the semiconductor opportunity across the entire infrastructure stack rather than benefiting a single device category,” said Ben Lee, director analyst at Gartner.
