GoLabs Turns Unitree Quadrupeds into Security Robots

by Pieter Werner

GoLabs has introduced a security robotics program with quadruped robots manufactured by Unitree Robotics, targeting commercial and industrial surveillance applications in the United States. The Plano, Texas-based company said the systems are designed to automate routine security operations through autonomous patrols, environmental monitoring, and real-time video surveillance. The robots are equipped with high-definition cameras, thermal imaging, infrared sensors, and LiDAR-based mapping technology intended to support operation in indoor and outdoor environments.

The quadrupeds can navigate facilities independently, including the use of elevators, while detecting irregular activity and transmitting alerts to operators. The company added that the systems can be deployed in areas considered hazardous for human personnel, such as oxygen-restricted zones, elevated structures, and industrial sites with environmental risks.

The robots use simultaneous localization and mapping technology to generate digital maps of facilities, allowing operators to establish predefined patrol routes and inspection checkpoints. GoLabs said its team assists customers with installation, calibration, and integration into existing security infrastructure. According to the company, the systems are being positioned for applications including warehouse monitoring, infrastructure protection, and event security.
