Hexagon AB has introduced AEON, a humanoid robot developed to address industrial workforce challenges and support automation across sectors including manufacturing, aerospace, and logistics. The announcement was made during the company’s Hexagon LIVE Global event in Stockholm. The robot is built using NVIDIA’s full robotics stack.
AEON is the inaugural product from Hexagon’s Robotics division and integrates the company’s sensor technology with AI-driven mission control and spatial intelligence. According to the company, the robot has been designed to perform a variety of tasks such as manipulation, asset inspection, and digital reality capture. It also features a battery-swapping mechanism intended to enable continuous operation without recharging.
The robot is expected to be piloted in production environments over the next six months through collaborations with industrial firms Schaeffler and Pilatus. Pilatus will evaluate AEON’s utility in its Swiss manufacturing operations, while Schaeffler plans to apply the robot across various factory use cases. Hexagon also announced technology partnerships with NVIDIA, Microsoft, and actuator specialist maxon to support AEON’s development and deployment. Hexagon has positioned AEON as part of its broader strategy to provide automation solutions aimed at mitigating labor shortages and enhancing operational efficiency in industrial settings.
