Humanoid appoints Jarad Cannon as Chief Technology Officer

by Pieter Werner

Robotics and artificial intelligence company Humanoid has appointed Jarad Cannon as Chief Technology Officer. In this position, Cannon will oversee the company’s technology strategy and product development efforts, with an emphasis on aligning engineering with business objectives and expanding capabilities in human-robot collaboration.

According to the company, Cannon’s responsibilities in the coming year will include scaling Humanoid’s engineering team, delivering alpha-stage prototypes on schedule, and leading proof-of-concept deployments intended to support future customer applications.

Cannon has over 13 years of experience in robotics and AI. He most recently served as CTO at Brain Corp, a robotics automation firm where he was involved in expanding operations from five to over 40,000 deployed robots and growing the engineering team from 30 to 250 employees. During his tenure, he led the launch of multiple commercial robots, with applications in floorcare and inventory analytics.

Earlier in his career, Cannon worked at iRobot, where he contributed to projects involving telepresence robots, defense and reconnaissance platforms, and Roomba navigation systems.

Commenting on his appointment, Cannon stated that current advances in computing and AI, along with labor market shifts, are creating favorable conditions for the widespread adoption of robotics. He expressed optimism about Humanoid’s potential to deploy scalable humanoid robotics solutions.

Founded in 2024 by Artem Sokolov, Humanoid is developing robots for use in industrial environments, including applications such as pick-and-place tasks, visual inspection, and assembly. The company’s flagship product, HMND 01, is described as a modular robotic unit capable of complex physical tasks at high speed. Upcoming milestones include the launch of both wheeled and bipedal alpha prototypes scheduled for later in the year.

Humanoid operates offices in London, Boston, and Vancouver, with a team of over 130 engineers and researchers.
