India has the highest reported daily usage of generative artificial intelligence tools globally, according to data presented by Altindex.com and based on the Statista Consumer Insights survey. The survey found that 41% of respondents in India use AI tools as part of their daily routine, more than double the proportion in the United States and Europe.
While the U.S. and Europe account for large AI user bases—approximately 73 million and 58 million users respectively—daily usage rates in India, Brazil, and Mexico are comparatively higher. In Brazil, 33% of respondents reported daily use of generative AI tools, followed by 24% in Mexico. In contrast, 20% of respondents in the U.S. and 21% in both Germany and the United Kingdom reported similar daily engagement with such tools.
Although tools such as ChatGPT and Meta AI have become widely recognized since ChatGPT’s release nearly three years ago, regular daily use remains limited in some markets. The data also suggests that many individuals may interact with AI-driven features embedded in everyday applications without being aware of it.
Statista projects that the global user base of AI tools will continue to expand. By 2030, the number of users is expected to reach approximately 952 million, an increase of 220 million compared to earlier estimates. Continued growth is anticipated through 2031, with the total number of users projected to exceed 1.1 billion, reflecting a growth trajectory comparable to that of social media, smartphones, and early internet adoption.
