Integrated Solutions for Systems (IS4S), in collaboration with Kleos Technology, will introduce a new line of autonomous robotic systems at the upcoming AUVSI Pathfinder Symposium. The centerpiece of the presentation will be HERO (Helicopter Expedited Refueling Operations), a robotic system designed to automate refueling processes at forward arming and refueling points (FARP).
HERO is engineered to transport and deliver up to 400 gallons of aviation fuel autonomously. Using waypoint navigation, real-time path planning, and obstacle avoidance, HERO navigates from a fuel source to designated landing pads for refueling tasks. Each unit is controlled via a ruggedized tablet, allowing a single operator to manage multiple robots. As the robot approaches an aircraft, onboard AI identifies the aircraft type and aligns the refueling port for optimal positioning. Refueling is conducted at the maximum allowable flow rate to reduce turnaround time.
IS4S describes the system as a force multiplier that reduces personnel requirements while increasing operational tempo. Following each refueling operation, HERO returns to the fuel source for replenishment, enabling continuous service cycles.
Beyond HERO, IS4S and Kleos Technology will showcase a broader suite of Commercial Robotically Enabled Vehicles (CREVs). These systems are built using commercial construction vehicle chassis equipped with a standardized, quick-change skid-mounted payload system. This design strategy is intended to reduce development time and cost while allowing rapid adaptation to various mission types.
The CREVs employ the same autonomy suite as HERO, enabling waypoint navigation, AI-based obstacle avoidance, and safety features for operations near personnel. IS4S states that these systems can be tailored and delivered within 6 to 8 weeks, with base models available from $100,000 in bulk quantities.
The modular nature of the CREV design supports a range of use cases including ammunition and cargo transport, tool and equipment delivery, aircraft positioning, perimeter security, decontamination, firefighting, and bomb disposal, among others. IS4S emphasizes that the use of commercially available platforms contributes to global serviceability and operational reliability, with maintenance facilitated by portable shipping containers outfitted for on-site support.
