Digit, the humanoid robot developed by Agility Robotics, is set to enter Mercado Libre’s fulfillment operations under a new commercial agreement between the two companies. The deployment will begin at the e-commerce company’s facility in San Antonio, Texas, with the possibility of expanding to additional sites in Latin America.
The robot will be introduced to support tasks within commerce fulfillment workflows, and both companies plan to examine further applications for humanoid automation across Mercado Libre’s logistics network. The collaboration also includes an evaluation of whether automating repetitive or physically demanding roles could improve ergonomic conditions, help address staffing gaps, and allow employees to focus on other operational activities.
Agustin Costa, senior vice president of shipping at Mercado Libre, said the initiative is part of the company’s testing of new technologies that may enhance logistics processes.
Agility Robotics describes Digit as a human-scale robot capable of navigating standard warehouse layouts without requiring structural changes. The company reports that the robot has been used in commercial environments and has moved more than 100,000 totes in live operations. Its management platform, Agility Arc, connects robot fleets with existing warehouse systems. Daniel Diez, chief business officer at Agility Robotics, said the partnership aims to integrate the robot into Mercado Libre’s facilities in a way that contributes to operational performance. Mercado Libre joins other companies using Agility Robotics’ technology, including GXO, Schaeffler, and Amazon.
