OMRON Launches New AMR

by Pieter Werner

OMRON Robotics and Safety Technologies has launched the OL-450S, an Autonomous Mobile Robot (AMR) designed for material handling in industrial settings. The OL-450S expands OMRON’s existing AMR product line and is engineered to support sectors such as automotive, semiconductors, electronics, food, household goods, and healthcare.

The OL-450S is equipped with a payload capacity of up to 450 kilograms and features a lifting range between 108 and 308 millimeters. It includes an integrated lifting plate, which the company states reduces the need for additional customization or engineering work. The robot’s omni-directional drive and 360-degree safety coverage enable it to navigate complex environments while operating around personnel and obstacles.

The unit also supports wireless charging, which is intended to allow for flexible deployment and continuous operation. The OL-450S operates within OMRON’s FLOW Core software platform, which provides centralized management for fleets of up to 100 robots with various payload capacities. This system is designed to support integration into existing infrastructure and streamline automation processes across multiple facility types. According to OMRON, the OL-450S is positioned to enhance automation and safety in fast-paced industrial environments.
