OnRobot Introduces New Vacuum Gripper

by Pieter Werner

OnRobot has introduced the VGP30, a vacuum gripper with a 30 kg (66 lbs.) payload capacity, designed for palletizing and handling irregularly shaped and porous surfaces, including thinner cardboard materials. The company states that the gripper is ready for immediate deployment and is compatible with all major robot brands.

According to OnRobot CEO Enrico Krog Iversen, the VGP30 is intended to help manufacturers improve throughput and flexibility, with features such as high payload capacity, intelligent vacuum control, and integration capabilities. The gripper is also designed to optimize air consumption, potentially reducing energy costs.

Thomas Lorenscheit, CEO of OnRobot partner Lorenscheit Automatisierungstechnik, highlighted the gripper’s strength and ease of use, noting its ability to handle different types of cardboard boxes with consistent performance.

The VGP30 features two independent vacuum channels for handling different box sizes and is compatible with OnRobot’s D:PLOY platform, which supports automated configuration of robotic systems for high-mix manufacturing environments.
