Robot.com has introduced R-dog, a four-legged robotic platform designed to handle last-mile deliveries across terrain that can be difficult for wheeled robots while also serving as a mobile advertising platform. The R-dog is currently a concept, with commercial deployments planned for 2027. It is designed to operate on REMI, Robot.com’s fleet management platform and physical API layer, which manages and coordinates robots across the company’s fleet.
Robot.com said the quadruped is intended to address the final portion of deliveries involving stairs, curbs, thresholds and uneven ground. The company is targeting environments including urban streets, residential neighborhoods, universities, hospitals and corporate and industrial sites.
The robot includes an onboard compartment designed to carry multiple items, including food orders and e-commerce parcels. Robot.com also plans to equip it with unattended drop-off functionality, allowing the robot to complete deliveries without a person handling the final handoff.
R-dog will also support Robot.com’s R-ads advertising system. The platform will allow brands to remotely manage campaigns displayed on two video screens mounted on the robot, providing Robot.com with a second commercial application for the same hardware.
The company is expanding its collaboration with robotics software developer FieldAI as it develops R-dog for production. FieldAI’s Field Foundation Models are expected to provide the robot’s autonomy system, including navigation and operation in changing environments and coordination among multiple robots.
Robot.com CEO and co-founder Felipe Chavez Cortes said the company designed R-dog to use its existing REMI infrastructure rather than developing a separate operating system for the quadruped.
“REMI is the operating foundation that runs every robot we have,” Cortes said. “When we wanted to add a quadruped, we didn’t need to build a new operational system from the ground up.” R-dog will join Robot.com’s existing portfolio, which includes the R-kiwi campus delivery robot, R-cargo for industrial and warehouse logistics and the R-noid humanoid platform. Robot.com said more than 500 of its robots are deployed across the United States, Canada, Dubai and the broader Middle East and North Africa region, and that its fleet has completed more than 2.5 million tasks.
