Robotera Raises RMB 1 Billion For Production of Humanoid Robots

by Pieter Werner

Robotera, developer of a full-size humanoid robot, has raised nearly RMB 1 billion (about USD 140 million) in a Series A+ funding round. The round was led by Geely Capital, with participation from BAIC Capital and several unnamed international industrial investors, alongside existing strategic investors Alibaba Group and Haier Capital.

According to Robotera, the new funding will support further iteration of its robots and the planned mass production of its humanoid and wheeled service robots as well as its dexterous robotic hand. The company stated that the involvement of Geely Capital and BAIC Capital is expected to support work in industrial deployment, supply chain coordination and applied use cases.

Robotera develops general-purpose robots that use embodied intelligence systems. Its product lines include full-size bipedal humanoid robots, full-size wheeled service robots and dexterous hands, with reported commercial deployments among multiple large technology companies. The company said its bipedal humanoid robot has completed autonomous walking tests in snow conditions and has taken part in athletic performance demonstrations, including long-jump and high-jump events at the World Humanoid Robot Games. Its dexterous hand, XHAND 1, uses a direct-drive architecture designed for reinforcement-learning research and is reported to be capable of manipulating more than 100 tools.
