Robots Boost Toilet Production by 150% at Georgia Manufacturing Plant

by Pieter Werner

TOTO has opened a $224 million manufacturing facility in Morrow, Georgia, integrating advanced robotics and automation to expand its U.S. production capacity for luxury one-piece toilets. The new plant, which adds approximately 300,000 units of annual output, brings TOTO’s total manufacturing capacity in the Americas to around one million units across facilities in Georgia, Mexico, and California. Robotics play a central role in the facility’s operations, supporting higher precision, greater efficiency, and improved worker safety, while enabling the company to localize production and reduce supply chain lead times.

The facility includes 34 industrial robots for tasks ranging from molding to finishing, as well as six Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs) that transport products between manufacturing stages. A newly developed robotic tank-bonding system, implemented for the first time at any TOTO Group site, automates the precise alignment of tanks and bowls, enhancing consistency and throughput. These technologies are part of a broader modernization strategy designed to improve manufacturing resilience and meet increasing demand in the Americas market.
