Bot Auto and Ryan Transportation will deploy fully driverless freight operations along a corridor connecting Houston and the Dallas-Fort Worth area. The initiative is expected to begin driverless runs in the spring and will focus on an overnight route of approximately 200 miles.
The deployment centers on freight movements between Houston and the southern portion of the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex, a lane characterized by tight delivery windows and consistent overnight demand. According to the companies, the route has historically presented operational challenges for human drivers due to fatigue considerations, hours-of-service regulations, and driver availability constraints.
Under the arrangement, Ryan Transportation will integrate Bot Auto’s Transportation as a Service model into its brokerage network. The autonomous fleet will operate without onboard drivers, providing capacity for time-sensitive shipments that require scheduled departures and consistent transit times. The companies indicated that the service is intended to complement traditional brokerage operations by offering an additional capacity option.
Robert Brown, vice president of business development at Bot Auto, said the overnight route represents a practical application for autonomous technology because it requires predictable scheduling and repeated daily execution. He stated that the system is designed to maintain consistent performance without the rest requirements associated with human drivers.
Jeff Henderson, senior vice president at Ryan Transportation, said the partnership reflects the company’s evaluation of emerging logistics technologies and its assessment of the long-term role of autonomous trucking in freight transportation. He added that integrating driverless operations is intended to support service reliability and capacity on high-frequency lanes while maintaining operational standards for customers.
Bot Auto operates as a Level 4 autonomous trucking company, offering freight services through an AI-enabled fleet. The company is based in Houston and focuses on operations within Texas. Ryan Transportation is a third-party logistics provider headquartered in Overland Park, Kansas. The company ranks 19th on the 2025 Transport Topics Top 100 Freight Brokerage list and operates as part of Shamrock Trading Corporation, with a network of carriers and logistics personnel serving shippers across multiple U.S. offices.
