Schaeffler Plans Deployment of Thousands of Humanoid Robots

by Marco van der Hoeven

Humanoid has signed a deployment and supply agreement with Schaeffler that targets the rollout of a four-digit number of humanoid robot units across Schaeffler’s global manufacturing facilities by 2032. The first systems are scheduled to enter live production environments in Germany before the end of 2026, marking one of the largest publicly disclosed humanoid robot deployment agreements in the manufacturing sector.

The initial phase will run from December 2026 through June 2027 at two Schaeffler sites in Germany. In Herzogenaurach, the work will focus on box handling in a live production environment. In Schweinfurt, the deployment will begin with a three-month capability demonstration and integration testing period, followed by a three-month on-site phase aimed at validating stable operations near production scale.

The agreement is structured around a Robot-as-a-Service model. Humanoid will provide robotic systems and related services, including fleet management software connectivity, maintenance, technical support, updates and performance management. The company will also support integration with Schaeffler’s system architecture, safety, IT infrastructure and security requirements.

Humanoid has also signed a five-year actuator supply agreement with Schaeffler. Under the deal, Schaeffler will become Humanoid’s preferred actuator supplier and is expected to cover more than half of Humanoid’s demand for joint actuators for its wheeled platforms through 2031. The agreement is expected to involve the supply of a seven-digit number of actuators.
