Dutch robotics company smartrobot.solutions and blockchain platform Stormcatch Token (SCATCH) have formed a strategic partnership to enhance the security of autonomous robots. By integrating blockchain technology with existing robot platforms, the two companies aim to create a reliable and scalable security layer for robots operating in sectors such as healthcare, education, and hospitality.
Stormcatch Token is developing a decentralized infrastructure to secure connected robots. This includes features such as digital identity assignment, verified authentication, and on-chain logging of robot activities. Through the partnership with smartrobot.solutions — known for robots like Maatje, Waitron, and Cadebot — these capabilities are now being embedded directly into robots already in use across various institutions.
According to both parties, applying blockchain technology offers tangible benefits for organizations working with autonomous systems. Each robot is assigned a tamper-proof digital identity, which guarantees its reliability and integrity. Because the identity is managed in a decentralized manner, there’s no dependency on centralized servers. Additionally, all key actions and interactions of the robot are recorded in an immutable log, which helps organizations comply with regulations and simplifies internal auditing.
smartrobot.solutions focuses on deployments in environments where transparency, safety, and compliance are critical. By adopting SCATCH protocols as a standard within their robot fleet, customers can be confident that these systems meet modern cybersecurity standards. In practice, this means robots can be automatically identified upon activation, their behavior is fully traceable, and organizations can more easily demonstrate accountability for their use.
While the combination of blockchain and robotics has been widely studied in recent years, this is one of the first real-world implementations where these technologies converge in operational systems. The integrated SCATCH protocol is already being deployed in Dutch healthcare institutions and hotels. smartrobot.solutions and Stormcatch Token anticipate expanding to other sectors soon, including education and logistics.
For organizations operating in regulated or sensitive environments, the partnership offers a practical solution. Decentralized identity management and blockchain-based activity logging make it easier to securely integrate robots into existing IT and data networks. At the same time, the system provides a transparent foundation for oversight, regulatory compliance, and accountability toward users, clients, and regulators.
Stormcatch Token is also developing an open API, allowing other robot manufacturers to connect their systems to the SCATCH network. With this, the company positions itself as a general-purpose security layer for the wider robotics market. The partnership with smartrobot.solutions serves as the first large-scale application of this approach.
The implementation of the SCATCH protocol begins with integration into the existing smartrobot.solutions fleet. Future robot models will come equipped with the security technology by default. Both companies consider this a significant step toward a future in which robots can operate securely, transparently, and responsibly in complex and mission-critical environments.
