THINK Surgical, based in Fremont, California, announced that its TMINI Miniature Robotic System has been used in over 500 total knee arthroplasty (TKA) procedures in the United States. According to Stuart Simpson, President and CEO of THINK Surgical, this indicates the interest in the TMINI System’s capabilities, which include being a miniature, handheld, and wireless robotic solution.
Simpson noted feedback from surgeons and hospital staff, who highlighted the system’s precision and operational efficiency. He expressed confidence in the system’s growing adoption and its role in facilitating additional successful TKA procedures.
The TMINI System is distinctive for offering compatibility with nine FDA 510(k)-cleared implant partners, a feature that provides surgeons and hospital administrators with broad implant options. THINK Surgical claims the system is the only miniature, handheld, wireless robotic device of its kind currently available in the U.S. market.
Originally cleared by the FDA in May 2023 with support for a single implant partner, the TMINI System has undergone updates, including the TMINI 1.1 Version Update. This update introduced the TMINI PRO™ Workflow, which supports positional refinement and optimization of implants. By November 2024, the system had expanded its implant compatibility to include eight additional partners.
