Swisslog Healthcare has entered into a strategic partnership with Diligent Robotics to expand its hospital automation portfolio in the United States. The collaboration will introduce autonomous mobile manipulation robots (AMMRs) to support last-mile delivery within hospital environments, enhancing Swisslog Healthcare’s existing automation solutions.
The alliance is designed to optimize hospital logistics by integrating Diligent Robotics’ delivery robots into clinical workflows. This approach aims to reduce manual task loads on healthcare staff and improve the efficiency of hospital pharmacy operations. According to Swisslog Healthcare, the agreement supports its broader strategy to expand into the growing service robotics segment, which industry forecasts suggest will see annual growth rates between 15% and 18% over the next several years.
Diligent Robotics’ flagship robot, Moxi, has been deployed in over 25 U.S. hospitals and has completed more than one million deliveries, including approximately 300,000 related to pharmacy services. This operational history aligns with Swisslog Healthcare’s focus on supporting high-volume, critical hospital logistics functions.
The partnership also integrates with the offerings of TransLogic, a Swisslog Healthcare company, which provides pneumatic tube systems used in hospitals. The AMMRs will be positioned to handle deliveries that are unsuitable for pneumatic transport, such as bulky items or sensitive medical samples, offering a complementary logistics solution.
