Tennant Sells 10,000 Scrubber Robots

by Pieter Werner

Tennant Company has announced the sale of its 10,000th autonomous mobile robot (AMR), marking a milestone in the company’s deployment of robotic floor cleaning equipment. The development reflects increasing global adoption of automation in commercial and industrial cleaning operations.

The Minneapolis-based manufacturer introduced its first AMR, the T7AMR, in 2018, targeting large commercial environments. Since then, Tennant has expanded its robotics portfolio with additional models designed for varying facility sizes and operational needs, including the T380AMR in 2020, the T16AMR in 2021, and the X4 ROVR in 2024. The most recent model, the X6 ROVR, launched in 2025, is designed for mid-sized to large facilities and is capable of cleaning up to 75,000 square feet per cycle.

In 2024, Tennant formalized a strategic partnership with Brain Corp, a move that included a \$32 million investment and an exclusive technology agreement. This collaboration has supported the integration of advanced AI capabilities into Tennant’s robotic platforms.

Company executives state that the milestone reflects a broader shift in how organizations approach cleaning operations, with increasing reliance on automation for consistency and operational efficiency. Tennant has emphasized its approach to supporting AMR integration, citing the importance of customer training and service in deploying robotic systems alongside human teams.
