Thomson’s Movotrak Cobot Transfer Unit (CTU) is now the first 7th axis system certified for ABB’s robotics partner ecosystem. The certification follows a new collaboration between Regal Rexnord and ABB Robotics, aimed at simplifying the integration of ABB’s GoFa collaborative robots with linear motion systems from Thomson, a Regal Rexnord brand.
The preconfigured Movotrak CTU allows ABB cobots to be deployed across multiple workstations without requiring extensive programming or integration work. The system extends the cobot’s range of motion up to 10 meters and supports mounting on the floor, wall, or ceiling. It also includes collision detection that stops the cobot when it encounters an obstacle, and a Freedrive mode to ease setup and training.
The CTU integrates components from across Regal Rexnord’s portfolio, including gearheads from Boston Gear, couplings from Huco, and motors and software from Kollmorgen. It is delivered as a complete system under a single part number.
As part of the ABB ecosystem, Regal Rexnord has adapted the CTU’s hardware and developed plug-and-play wiring and software interfaces compatible with ABB’s engineering tools, including its Web App, Wizard, and RAPID programming environment. Thomson’s configuration tools are now accessible directly from the ABB FlexPendant interface.
ABB’s robotics partner program includes suppliers of pre-engineered accessories and software designed to reduce the time and effort required to deploy robotic applications.
