Tuya Smart, an AI cloud platform provider listed in New York and Hong Kong, presented a range of artificial intelligence–enabled toy concepts at Spielwarenmesse, outlining how advances in conversational AI, emotion recognition, and long-term memory are being applied to consumer toys. The company positioned these products within the broader development of AI companions, a market that industry research estimates at $37.73 billion in 2025, with projections extending to $435.9 billion by 2034, reflecting increased adoption of interactive digital systems designed for ongoing engagement.
Among the concepts demonstrated was NebulaPals, a plush toy designed to respond to user interaction through LED-based facial expressions and tactile sensors. According to Tuya, the device is intended to support conversational interaction, storytelling, games, and information playback, while maintaining memory over repeated interactions to adjust responses over time. Another product, Walulu, was shown as a configurable AI companion capable of recognizing a range of emotional states and operating across multiple languages. Tuya indicated that Walulu can integrate with external language models and allows users to modify behavioral traits, enabling personalized interaction patterns.
Tuya also presented an AI learning camera aimed at educational use. The device combines computer vision with language tools to identify objects and associate them with cultural or instructional content. Demonstrated features included real-time pronunciation assistance, translation support, and image processing functions that convert hand-drawn sketches into digital visuals, alongside conversational interaction intended to support exploratory learning.
In addition to individual products, Tuya highlighted its broader AI toy solution platform, which is designed to support manufacturers and brands across the development process from concept to commercialization. The platform includes tools for defining toy behavior, memory logic, and personality parameters without requiring developers to train underlying AI models or build proprietary infrastructure. Tuya stated that the system supports integration with multiple large language models, offers varying levels of customization, and includes parental control functions for monitoring and content management. The company also indicated that the platform incorporates security frameworks aligned with data protection regulations such as GDPR and CCPA.
