Chinese robotics company UBTECH has launched the UWORLD U1 series of full-size humanoid robots for consumer companionship and service applications, after previewing the product through teaser footage released earlier. The launch expands the company’s portfolio beyond industrial and commercial systems into the consumer robotics market.
The series comprises three models: the semi-torso U1 Lite, the full-body U1 Pro and the U1 Ultra. Prices start at 119,800 yuan. UBTECH reported cumulative orders of 13,361, although it did not provide a breakdown by model, order value or delivery schedule.
UBTECH is positioning the U1 series for daily companionship, emotional support and domestic assistance, as well as reception, hospitality, elder care, education, exhibitions and research. The company said the product line forms part of its strategy to extend humanoid robots from industrial deployments into homes and service environments.
The robots have 88 degrees of freedom and use a dual-pivot cervical-spine mechanism designed to reproduce up to 90% of basic human movements. UBTECH said the system can identify more than 20 emotional states with accuracy exceeding 90%, respond within 500 milliseconds in some interactions and maintain speech-to-lip synchronisation latency of less than 20 milliseconds. The performance figures were provided by the company and have not been independently verified.
The platform combines synthetic skin, robotics hardware, an operating system, language models and memory software. UBTECH said its Agent Memory OS is intended to retain information across interactions, while a contextual-response system allows the robots to react without a spoken wake word. The company also described a privacy framework based on local data processing, limited cloud use and hardware controls managed by users.
UBTECH plans to donate 100 customised U1-series robots in 2026 through a companionship programme aimed at children separated from parents, older people living alone and families facing difficult circumstances. The customised units are expected to use facial reconstruction and voice-replication technologies to represent designated individuals, alongside memory and emotion-recognition systems.
The company’s existing portfolio includes the Walker series of industrial humanoid robots and products for education, logistics and commercial services. UBTECH said the Walker S series has entered mass production and begun deliveries. The company was established in 2012 and is listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange.
