Yusen Logistics has begun deploying Destro AI’s human-robot collaboration platform to coordinate employees and autonomous mobile robots in its transload operations. The platform analyzes warehouse conditions and assigns work to employees and robots based on operational requirements. Yusen Logistics said the system is intended to improve throughput, reduce manual coordination and provide real-time visibility into freight movement across receiving, staging, dock and outbound shipping activities.
The initial deployment focuses on cart movements within transload facilities. The logistics company plans to assess additional uses, including automated pallet movement and AI-based workflow verification. Rick Brunelle, director of automation at Yusen Logistics (Americas), said the company is using automation to improve service, reliability and operational performance while supporting warehouse employees.
Destro AI founder and chief executive Manthan Pawar said the companies are applying the technology to coordinate people and robotic systems as warehouse requirements change. The project forms part of Yusen Logistics’ wider effort to introduce automation across its logistics network.
