The day after Google announced that the company will launch a chatbot that can compete with ChatGPT, the Chinese technology company Baidu also announced that it has finished testing of a ChatGPT-rival, called “Ernie Bot”. Their Hong Kong-listed shares closed up 15.3% on Tuesday, while its U.S shares climbed 11.2% in morning trade.
Just two months after its launch ChatGPT has proven itself the fastest-growing consumer app in history. Many tech firms now step up their investments in generative AI technology. Google owner Alphabet said on Monday it will incorporate AI in its search engine, after Microsoft announced it will make ChatGPT part of a premium version of Teams.
