IFF has introduced an automated dosing robot at its Chin Bee facility in Singapore to accelerate the production of fragrance sample batches for customers across Greater Asia. The Colibri system is designed to prepare on-demand sample quantities within minutes and replaces the company’s earlier dosing setup.
According to IFF, the installation at its cross-category Scent and Taste production site enables the handling of multiple ingredients at the same time and operates at a speed the company states is four times faster than the prior system. The company said the increased automation expands capacity and shortens delivery times for fragrance samples.
Ramon Brentan, Vice President and Regional General Manager for Greater Asia, Scent, said in a statement that the system enhances the company’s ability to support demand in the region with what he described as improved speed, quality and precision.
IFF reported that fragrance trial compounds can now be produced within seconds and that the site is able to generate about 200 sample batches in an eight-hour period, work it said previously required 24 hours. The company noted that the reduced processing time is intended to support a faster progression from formula development to sampling.
The Chin Bee location is the most recent IFF site to adopt the Colibri system, which is already in use at facilities in Neuilly, France, and Hilversum, Netherlands. The company has been expanding its operations in Singapore following the opening of its Innovation Center, a project valued by IFF at USD 30 million.
