Aramark has partnered with RoboEatz, ABB Robotics, and WellSpan Health to introduce a robotic meal preparation system aimed at supporting hospital staff and visitors with round-the-clock dining options. The company has invested in RoboEatz’s Autonomous Robotic Kitchen (ARK) technology, which is designed to operate continuously and prepare customizable meals on demand.
ARK occupies a 400-square-foot space and is capable of preparing up to four bowl-based meals simultaneously using a robotic arm that selects from up to 80 ingredients stored in the system. The kitchen is integrated with Aramark’s existing Point of Sale system, menu management tools, and supply chain operations. It is designed to manage food storage, preparation, plating, and cleaning processes autonomously. Users can place orders via a mobile device or on-site kiosk, and the system sends alerts when ingredient replenishment is required.
The pilot implementation of ARK was conducted at a large healthcare facility, where Aramark tested its efficiency, space utilization, and user interaction. According to the company, the robotic system is intended to support existing food service staff, particularly during late-night hours when traditional dining options are limited.
The deployment of ARK forms part of Aramark’s broader digital initiative, Hospitality IQ™, which integrates intelligent technologies to enhance operational decision-making and service delivery across its hospitality offerings.
