Renault Deutschland purchases robotic warehouse system from Exotec

by Pieter Werner

Renault Deutschland AG is acquiring an automated warehouse system from Exotec as part of the modernization of its logistics site in Brühl, near Cologne. With this project, Renault is expanding its use of warehouse robotics within the group, following an earlier implementation at a French site of the Renault Group. The new warehouse is intended for the distribution of spare parts to dealers across Germany and is scheduled to become operational in June 2026.

Construction of a new warehouse with a total area of 24,000 square meters has been underway at the Brühl site since June 2025. The facility will replace the existing warehouse and will be equipped with Exotec’s Skypod system. Renault plans to deploy 89 mobile robots, with a projected throughput capacity of more than 1,600 bins per hour. The system combines goods reception and order picking and is designed to handle approximately 1,500 order lines per hour. In addition to the robotics, Renault is also purchasing the associated control software, which is delivered via Exotec’s Deepsky platform.

According to Renault, the investment is part of a broader modernization of logistics for aftersales activities in Germany. The company expects that expanding the Brühl site will enable more efficient spare parts supply and better alignment with the operational requirements of the German dealer network.
