AI-Powered Humanoid Robots in the Warehouse

by Pieter Werner

Agility Robotics and Manhattan Associates have announced a partnership, bringing together Agility’s bipedal Mobile Manipulation Robot (MMR), Digit, and Manhattan’s technology in supply chain commerce. This collaboration marks the integration of Digit and the Agility Arc, Agility’s cloud platform for managing Digit robots, into the Manhattan Active Warehouse Management solution.

This move is aimed at addressing challenges in warehouse and manufacturing operations, focusing on productivity, safety, and assistance in repetitive tasks.

Digit, characterized by its bipedal design, is tailored to operate in environments similar to those where humans work, mainly handling logistics tasks with an emphasis on bulk material handling. Through this partnership, Agility Robotics will join the Manhattan Value Partner program and the Manhattan Automation Network, catering to trusted partners and providers in warehouse automation.

Eric Lamphier, Senior Director of Alliances at Manhattan Associates, pointed out the necessity for robotics solutions like Digit in the face of labor shortages and the need for operational efficiency in logistics. Meanwhile, Peggy Johnson, CEO of Agility Robotics, commented on the partnership’s potential in facilitating the adoption of Agility’s solutions into existing warehouse operations and expanding the reach of Digit robots.
